DriveTrain
Cranks: Odyssey Thunderbolt 175 RHD (white)
These are quality cranks, strong, light and with a life time warranty. They have a 22mm spindle, so I need a 22mm Bottom Bracket.
Purchased from 3ride out of Canada. Think if found the last pair or these cranks in white & right hand drive in North America.
Bottom Bracket: Shadow Conspiricy Corvus (white)
For the most part, I think most quality bottom brackets are as good as any. It is the dust covers have different looks and available in different colors.
The Amero frame takes a Spanish Bottom Bracket, so what ever you go with you will need to make sure it is spanish.
The other variable is the size usually 19mm or 22mm. This will depend on the cranks you go with. The thunderbolts have a 22mm spindle so I needed a 22mm Spanish bottom bracket.
Pedals: Odyssey Twisted (safety orange)
The Odyssey pedals got great reviews and comment. I found a good deal on the twisted pedals and they are orange.
One cool think I learned is you get red and black end caps. I was expecting just red and was glad to see the black option. Not a big deal but black end caps will better suit my colors.
Sprocket / Chain: Generic / Odyssey Bluebird (orange & black)
Was having a hard time locating a good orange sprocket that fit the Thunderbolt cranks, I opted for a generic one off eBay till I find one that is just right.
For the Chain I went with the Odyssey Bluebird in black. Not that familiar with what makes a great chain, Odyssey is a quality brand so I added one to an order that had free shipping.
Steering
Headset: Shadow Conspiricy Corvus (white)
Went with this one because it matched the bottom bracket I selected. If I can have them match then why not.
Stem: Eclat boxer - orange
A little more expensive than other stems. Super strong and sturdy.
Handlebars: - Odyssey - Double Spacebar - black
This being a first BMX, not 100% sure what size and style of bars I need. I went with one whose diemensions seemed to fit riders or about my size and had positive comments.
Grips & Bar Ends: Cult - Vans Waffle (orange) & bar ends (black)
Brakes
Brake Kit: Odyssey EVO 2 Kit (black)
Many people told me the Odyssey EVO 2 was the way to go. I could have gone with different colors and would have had to buy the lever, cable, and brake seperately. Odyssey makes a triple black kit that saved a few dollars. Anything helps...
Seating
Seat Post: - Eclat Torch 15 230mm black
Based this one off the height I was after 230mm seemed to be a pretty good all around height. Eclat seems to be a solid manufacturer.
Seat: - Eclat - orange
will post picture when I receive it.
Just a few more years!
I would love to hear what your think.
If you have a 22" BMX send over the components and any images and I will post it up.
